Basic Performance Monitor statistics to use

If you are trying to find why your computer is running slow, the first set of statistics to gather are for:

  • Memory
  • CPU
  • Disk

So in Windows, when running Performance Monitor, this is the primary list of statistics to initially look at:
    1. Memory / % Committed Bytes in use
    2. Paging File / % Usage
    3. Physical Disk / %Disk Time
    4. Physical Disk/Current Disk Queue Length
    5. Processor / %Processor Time / Total
    6. Processor / %Processor Time / All Instances
